The Political Parties Council has set October 22, 2026, as the deadline for political parties seeking to form pre-election coalitions ahead of the December general elections. Under a new directive issued by the Council, all coalition applications, agreements and required financial deposits must be submitted by 5 p.m. on October 22. The Council says only fully registered political parties are eligible to form coalitions, while each participating party must obtain approval from its governing body and designate authorised representatives to sign the coalition agreement. The Council will review applications within seven working days and, upon approval, issue certificates of coalition registration and notify the National Elections Commission to formalise joint electoral symbols.
