The Minister of Energy and Dams,. Agok Makur Kur, has signed the Electricity Power Generation Regulations, 2026. Minister Agok says the new regulations represent an important step towards establishing a clear framework for regulating the energy and dams sector in the country and strengthening the legal and institutional foundations necessary for its development. He stressed that South Sudan has full sovereignty over the development and regulation of the energy and dams sector within its territory, in line with the country’s needs and future energy plans. The adoption of the regulations forms part of the Ministry’s efforts to strengthen governance and regulation in the electricity sector, create a clear environment for the development of power-generation projects, and support the expansion of electricity access in support of national development.
