High-Level Forum Signals Growing African Support for South Sudan’s Elections

<p>The Government has stepped up regional engagement ahead of the December 2026 elections, as a high-level Pan-African forum in Juba brought together diplomats and partners to align support for the electoral process.</p><p><br></p><p>Convened by Senior Presidential Envoy on Special Programs, Adut Kiir, gathered representatives from the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the African Union at the Radisson Blu Hotel.</p><p><br></p><p>Discussions focused on progress in implementing the revitalized peace agreement, electoral preparedness, and security arrangements. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to supporting peaceful, credible, and transparent elections.</p><p><br></p><p>The forum underscores growing African backing for South Sudan’s democratic transition and highlights the country’s role in advancing African-led solutions and regional cooperation.</p>
