SPLM SG Condemns The Brutal Killing Of Akobo County Commissioner

he Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM), held an emergency session at the national headquarters today chaired by SPLM Secretary General Cde. Dr. Akol Paul Kordit, to address the recent tragic events in Akobo. The SPLM strongly condemns the brutal killing of SPLM Chairperson and the Commissioner of Akobo County in the strongest possible terms. We mourn the death of our Late Hon. Cde. James Kueth Makuach, who was killed in Welgak, Akobo West. This act, which included the humiliation of the victims' remains, is a grave violation of human dignity and peace. The SPLM calls upon all armed individuals, organizations, and opposition groups to immediately cease the cycle of violence. The Secretary General emphasize that there is no future in violence and urges all involved to abandon this path, opting instead for dialogue to resolve political disputes.Furthermore, the SPLM Secretary General calls on the international community, along with our regional and international partners, to formally condemn these acts of violence. We urge these stakeholders to recognize that such actions are being used by certain groups as a mechanism to seize power, which destabilizes our collective progress."On behalf of our Chairman H.E. Cde. Salva Kiir Mayardit, and the entire leadership of the SPLM, we extend our deepest condolences to the families of the Late Hon. Cde. James Kueth Makuach and all the comrades who perished alongside him in this brutal act," Dr. Kordit stated. "We mourn our comrade, and stand in solidarity with his family during this difficult time."The SPLM remains steadfast in its commitment to peace and national reconciliation, calling for calm across the country as we navigate this challenging period for the people of South Sudan.
