VP Abdelbagi & IGAD Envoy Discuss Road To 2026 Elections

<p >The government has assured the Inter-governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) its commitment to holding its first post-independence elections towards transitioning to democratic governance. This following a meeting between Vice President for the Service Cluster, Hussein Abdelbagi Akol and IGAD Special Envoy Amb. Moussa Djama Ali in Juba. The IGAD Special Envoy Amb. Moussa Djama Ali reiterates IGAD’s continued support for South Sudan’s efforts to create conditions necessary for a peaceful, credible and inclusive electoral process. Ali emphasizes the importance of sustained dialogue among political stakeholders, timely implementation of key provisions of the peace agreement, and strengthening institutions responsible for conducting the elections. The Vice President through his Press Secretary notes that the government is working with regional and international partners to advance preparations while maintaining peace and stability across the country. <o:p></o:p></p>
