The National Elections Commission, in collaboration with United Nations Integrated Electoral Assistance and JICA, organized a one day civic Engagement Programme on women’s participation in Democratic Elections. The event brought together women in Central Equatoria State and the National women Union. Speaking the event, Thabo Abosh, Commissioner in the national Elections Commission says the role of the commission is to organize peaceful and Democratic Elections. Barnaba Mayor Deng, the Commission's Director for public outreach reaffirmed continues engagement of women in the election process. women representatives in national and Central Equatoria State calls for women inclusion in the electoral process, adding that this will enable them to know their rights and understand Democracy.
