<p >South Sudan’s Minister of Labour, Anthony Lino Makana, has called for stronger efforts to promote decent work, skills development, and social protection for workers across Africa. Speaking during a dinner hosted by Gilbert F. Houngbo on the side-lines of the International Labour Organization meetings in Geneva, Minister Makana praised Houngbo as the first African to lead the organization, urging the International Labour Organization to strengthen implementation of labour policies across the continent. The minister highlighted the need to validate informal employment, expand social security coverage, and equip young people with vocational and digital skills, noting that jobs are essential for peace and stability, particularly in post-conflict countries such as South Sudan.<o:p></o:p></p><p> </p><p >Makana further called for stronger partnerships between African governments, workers, and the ILO to create employment opportunities with dignity and improve the livelihoods of millions of Africans.<o:p></o:p></p>
