GOV’T COMMENDS UNMISS ON PEACE PROMOTION AS WORLD MARKS PEACEKEEPERS DAY

<p >The Government has commended the role of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan in promoting peace and stability as the global community marks international peacekeepers day.  The Day is being commemorated annually on 29<sup>th</sup> May in honour of the services and sacrifices of Peacekeepers throughout the World. The national Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Albino Akol Atak, says the government welcomes constructive engagement with UNMISS and others stakeholders for durable peace South Sudan, praising peacekeepers for supporting civilian protection, conflict resolution and humanitarian efforts across the country.<o:p></o:p></p><p > </p><p> </p><p >The Special Representative of the UN Secretary General and Head of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, Anita Kiki, pays tribute to UN Peacekeepers for their tireless efforts in maintaining peace in South Sudan. <o:p></o:p></p>
