<p > The Commander-in-Chief, President Salva Kiir, has instructed the army to uphold discipline and professionalism in carrying out its constitutional mandate of protecting the country’s territorial integrity and its people.<o:p></o:p></p><p >The President made these remarks while presiding over the handover ceremony of military command to the newly appointed Chief of Defence Forces, General Santino Deng Wol, who replaces his rotational counterpart, General Dr. Paul Nang Majok, now appointed Undersecretary for Veterans Affairs.<o:p></o:p></p><p >President Kiir further emphasized the importance of honesty, dedication, and commitment in public service, stressing the need for all institutions to work together in addressing the challenges facing the country. <o:p></o:p></p><p >For his part, the Minister of Defence, General Chol Thon Balok, pledges full cooperation and coordination with the new Chief of Defence Forces to support ongoing efforts aimed at reforming and modernizing the military institution.<o:p></o:p></p><p >Meanwhile, the newly appointed Chief of Defence Forces, General Santino Deng Wol, expressed gratitude to President Kiir for renewing confidence in him for a second time to lead the SSPDF General Headquarters.<o:p></o:p></p><p> </p><p >The handover ceremony underscored the importance of strengthening unity within the military establishment and enhancing joint efforts aimed at promoting security and stability across the country.<o:p></o:p></p>
